The Little Blessings

Earlier part in the month, I caught the movie "Our Times", a Taiwanese romance comedy based on school romance set in the 90s. Relatable, funny, touching and romantic - this is a movie I will recommend to all especially the 90s kids. The throwbacks to the "Macdonald" hairstyle, diary and those magnetic phone book are the real classics.

This pretty much explains how the theme song for this movie gets to my current playlist. The lyrics is highly melancholic - unrealized love, acceptance, regret, envy and blessings. Somehow, contradictory to the meaning of the lyrics, I am reminded to be appreciative of the all the blessings at the moment, rather than reliving the past.

XOXO

Taiwan Trip, May 2015 - From Rainbow Village to Catching Monsters

Quite like a journey on a time rocket, three quarters of 2015 flew by in a whirlpool of activities since the clock stuck twelve 31.12.14.

This is also the first time in years where I have no time to plan for holidays, much less initiate travel plans. In times like this, I am so thankful that my bro rise up to the occasion and bought tickets for us to Taiwan. So yes, our yearly Taiwan trip continues!

Dawn from 35,000 above feet
Admiring the quiet beauty of the dawn in the silent cabin.

We ate at the same old 24-hour Burger King outlet at the airport and embarked on our first stop of the day - Rainbow Village!

The Whimsical Rainbow Village (Cai Hong Juan
According to our tour guide, as summarized by Actually.sgRainbow Village used to be a shelter for nationalist soldiers, given to them as gratitude for their service to the nation. Years later, the compound was converted to residential houses. As history has it, the local Taichung government threatened to demolish the place one day and in order to save it, Hung Yung-Fu, more commonly known now as Grandpa Rainbow, picked up his brush and started painting the village’s walls, filling it with colors and drawings. The 92 year old man tactics eventually saved the village from being torn down.

Exploring the Colorful Street of the Small Village

Spot the Super Stars
To be honest, I find the amount of red used in the graffiti overwhelming.

Outside The Village
My niece refused to step into the village.

The Ukelele Ironman
The weather is pretty hot and I really admire his perseverance to perform in this attire. He is very good at taking photographs. Haha!

Next up is the Monster Village! Ready for the real spook?

Xitou Monster Village
Monster Village turns out to be a innocuously looking small village bustling with tourists. Nothing scary except for my overworking imagination. Imagine the red dark villages, where passer by are walking dead, and feasting on brains in the tree house?

Tori Gates
Check out the Japanese inspired architecture.

Souvenirs
I think some of the name of the snacks are kind of crude and probably make good gifts for enemies.

Pills to the Enlightenment
That is actually chewy gums with... eyeballs! Yikes!

More Innocent Times
That probably turns into zombie children at night(s). Runaway imagination due to Maze Runner 2 movie, Halloween and lack of sleep.

Hungry for Food?

Looks like eyeball are the preferred food there.

Mask

If you can't beat them, join them.

Creepy School Bus

It's purely decorative because the doors are locked. Or is it so? The hands on the wheels are just decoeations and please ignore the passengers because they are just drawings... now.

Fortune Lion

Escape the Room
Check this out if you have the time! Can you escape the room in MONSTER VILLAGE? *evil laughter sound playing in the background*

No way am I going to the village in the night time.

Let's run!
